Moving into a new place in Accra? Here is a practical, budget-aware guide to furnishing every room — with real price estimates and what to prioritise first.
Moving into a new apartment in Accra is an exciting moment — and a significant financial decision. The pressure to fill every room at once leads many buyers to overspend on pieces they later regret, or underspend on the things that should last 15 years.
This guide takes a room-by-room approach to furnishing an Accra apartment, with honest budget estimates and a clear prioritisation framework.
Start with the bedroom — always
The bedroom is where you spend a third of your life. Compromising on the bed or bedroom set to save money upfront rarely feels like the right decision in year two. For a master bedroom in a new apartment, budget GHS 12,000–18,000 for a quality bed frame, two bedside tables, and a wardrobe.
The most common mistake: buying a wardrobe that does not fit the room. Measure three times before ordering. A 5-door wardrobe requires at least 2.5m of linear wall space. A 6-door needs 3m minimum.
Living room: prioritise the sofa
The sofa is the centrepiece of any living room — and the piece guests will notice first. Budget GHS 8,000–15,000 for a complete Turkish-manufactured sofa set (typically 3+2+1 configuration). Add a center table — budget GHS 1,500–4,000 depending on material and style.
What to avoid: buying a sofa that overwhelms the room. An L-shaped sofa in a 3m × 4m living room leaves no functional space. Measure your room first — we offer a room fit checker on every product page.
Dining room: practical over aspirational
For a 3-bedroom apartment, a 6-seater dining set (table + 6 chairs) is the standard configuration. Budget GHS 5,000–9,000 for a quality Turkish-manufactured dining set. If your apartment has a small dining area, a 4-seater is the right choice — do not squeeze a 6-seater into a space that cannot accommodate it comfortably.
Budget framework for a complete 3-bedroom apartment
Master bedroom set: GHS 12,000–18,000. Living room sofa + center table: GHS 9,000–19,000. Dining set: GHS 5,000–9,000. Second bedroom: GHS 6,000–10,000. Additional pieces (TV stand, wardrobes, carpets): GHS 5,000–10,000. Total budget range: GHS 37,000–66,000.
The phased approach
You do not need to furnish everything at once. Most buyers start with the master bedroom and living room, then add the dining set and second bedroom over the following months. This reduces upfront financial pressure without compromising on quality for the pieces you buy first.
